Summer just wouldn’t be the same without fresh figs! Amazingly beautiful and rich, these little beauties are now gracing us with their presence in our produce section. It’s ok to do a dance for joy – we won’t laugh at you. To savor them at their peak of freshness, it’s best to enjoy them right away. So pick up some today and try one of the serving ideas we’ve listed below.
How to pick:
Look for figs with a rich, deep color, that are tender but not mushy. They should have firm stems and a sweet scent to them.
Susan, the cheesemonger at Burnside recommends stuffing fresh figs with Cashel Blue, then drizzling with chestnut honey.
Or, do it up French-style by wrapping them with prosciutto, then grilling. Maybe you’re craving a snack. Try serving them on top of yogurt with fresh berries and a chopped nectarine.
